Description

You will need this certificate if you are authorised to undertake any flight related activity overseas and intend to undertake that activity within Australia.

This certificate suits pilots visiting Australia for a short period or to undertake a specific operation such as aircraft conversion training.

A certificate of validation operates as:

  • a flight crew licence that gives authorisation equivalent to that which is held overseas
  • an aircraft endorsement that gives authorisation equivalent to that which is held overseas
  • a flight crew rating or grade that gives authorisation equivalent to that which is held overseas.

Please note that if you intend to operate in Australia for more than 3 months it is recommended that you apply for an Australian flight crew licence.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • hold a current valid overseas flight authorisation
  • if required to hold an overseas medical certificate, ensure that it is valid and current
  • have an understanding of the English language sufficient to enable you to safely undertake any activities authorised by the certificate of validation
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have been awarded a passing grade in the certificate of validation examinations.
