Description

You will require this certification if you intend to have measuring instruments and / or reference materials certified.

The Chief Metrologist may issue a written notice recognising a measuring instrument that has been certified in a foreign country as a certified measuring instrument if the certified value of the measuring instrument is equivalent to or comparable to the Australian primary standards of measurement.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

An application must be:

  • made in the form provided by the Chief Metrologist to certifying authorities for issue to applicants; and
  • accompanied by the measuring instrument or the reference material, or a sample of the material; and
  • given to a relevant certifying authority.

The certifying authority may require the applicant to lodge any additional information that the authority needs to consider the application properly.
