Code of Practice and Safety Guide for Radiation Protection and Radioactive Waste Management in Mining and Mineral Processing (2005) - Australian Government

Description

You will need to comply with this code if you undertake activities in a controlled facility, with controlled apparatus or with controlled materials. A facility, apparatus or material is controlled if it requires strict operational procedures for safety and use in order to minimise harm from radiation or radioactive waste.

The code applies to the mining and processing of ores for the production of uranium or thorium concentrates, and the separation of heavy minerals from mineral sands ore.

The code establishes the requirements for radiation protection in mining and mineral processing industries, as well as for the protection of human health and the environment from the effects of radioactive waste occurring through mining and mineral processing.
