Consent to Import Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals - Australian Government


You will require this consent if you intend to import an unregistered agricultural or veterinary chemical, or unapproved active constituent.

An active constituent is a proposed or existing chemical product primarily responsible for the biological or therapeutic effects of the product, and its biological identification as an agricultural or veterinary chemical product.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this consent you must provide the following information:

  • information about yourself
  • technical name, common name and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number (if known) of the chemical
  • quantity to be imported
  • name of the exporting country
  • intended use in Australia.

The Agency will consider, among other matters, relevant international conventions or agreements adopted by the Australian Government and whether there are any potential risks for humans, animals, the environment, industry or trade.

For imports involving multiple chemicals, a separate form must be completed for each chemical. A multiple entry import permit may be granted provided you are a fit and proper person.
