Customs Broker's Licence - Australian Government

Description

You must have this licence if you are going to operate as a customs broker. There are three categories of customs broker:

  • corporate customs broker (if you are acting for a company or business)
  • sole trader customs broker
  • nominee customs broker (if you are employed by a corporate or sole trader).

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

You may only be granted a licence if you are considered to be suitably qualified. To be eligible you must be a fit and proper person, and show both:

  • completion of the approved course of study
  • proof of your acquired experience in the industry.

Your application will be referred to the advisory committee for assessment, consideration and a hearing, if required. The committee will report its findings to the Agency and a decision on your application may be made.
