You may require this accreditation if you operate a medical practice that provides diagnostic imaging (DI) services.
The Australian Government provides rebates for certain DI services. DI includes:
- ultrasound
- computed tomography
- nuclear medicine
- radiography
- magnetic resonance imaging
- positron emission tomography
- bone densitomography.
Radiology practices providing certain DI services must be accredited under stage one of the Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme to be eligible to provide those services under Medicare.
You may require this accreditation if your practice provides the items listed in the Diagnostic Imaging Services Table of the Medical Benefits Schedule, in these areas of service:
- Ultrasound
- Nuclear Medicine Imaging
- Computed Tomography
- General Radiology
- Mammography
- Angiography
- Fluoroscopy
- Orthopantomography
- Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
