Exemption Certificate for Specified Space Activities - Australian Government


You will need this certificate if you intend to undertake specific space-related activities and require an exemption. An exemption for specified space activities is required in order to undertake an activity that may otherwise be prohibited by Australian law.

Eligibility requirements

The following factors will be considered when assessing applications for an exemption certificate:

  • whether the conduct is required to deal with an emergency
  • the probability of the conduct causing substantial harm to public health or public safety or causing substantial damage to property
  • the probability of the Australian Government being exposed to liability, under the Liability Convention or otherwise under international law, for damage caused by the conduct.
