You will require one of these licences if you are a fire protection technician or if you work with, or handle, extinguishing agents where there is a risk of an emission. Such work includes decanting the agent, installing or maintaining fire protection equipment and decommissioning or disposing of fire protection equipment.
There are two categories of Extinguishing Agent Handling Licence (EAHL) that are offered under this application:
- experienced persons EAHL
- qualified persons EAHL.
The only difference between the two categories of licence is that you must apply for an experienced persons EAHL if you have not completed the necessary competency based training qualifications to be granted a qualified persons EAHL. Once you have completed the competency based training you must apply to transition to a qualified persons EAHL.
You may also receive an Extinguishing Agent Trainee Licence if you do not meet the required experience and / or qualification standards for a full licence.
You may receive a licence in one of the following types:
- Portable Fire Extinguisher Maintenance
- Fixed System Installation and Decommissioning
- Fixed System Maintenance
- Recovery, Reclamation and Recycling
- Warehouse Maintenance
- Control Systems Installation.
Please note that you may be required to hold more than one type licence depending on the work you undertake.
