Extinguishing Agent Trading Authorisation - Australian Government

Description

You will need this authorisation if you intend to acquire, store and / or dispose of an extinguishing agent. An extinguishing agent means a scheduled substance that can be used to prevent, control or extinguish a fire, or suppress an explosion.

A trading authorisation is required to undertake the following activities:

  • buy, sell or possess extinguishing agents in bulk
  • fill or recover extinguishing agent.

This authorisation does not permit a person to acquire, store or dispose of halon - in this case, a Halon Special Permit is required.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authorisation you must:

  • have appropriate equipment to be able to handle and prevent avoidable emissions
  • provide details of relevant training and experience
  • supply the name of employer if applicable
  • ensure that only people with the appropriate licence actually handle the extinguishing agent
  • provide a risk management plan with your application.
