Foreign Aircraft Air Operator's Certificate (FAAOC) - Australian Government


You may require this certification if you intend to operate more than eight non-scheduled flights in one twelve month period into, out of or within Australian airspace, in a foreign registered aircraft.

A non-scheduled flight is a flight that is not made under the authority of an International Airline Licence and includes, but is not limited to, operations such as private flights, overflights and passenger and cargo services.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certification you must provide:

  • specific details of the schedule of operations into Australia, including proposed flights, including flight times, dates and routes
  • your operator's Certificate or equivalent and a full copy of the operations specifications issued by the authority responsible for regulating civil aviation in the country in which your aircraft is registered or operating, containing approval to conduct international operations using the aircraft types the operator proposes to use
  • a certified copy of your company's current Certificate of Incorporation or Business Registration, or the equivalent document issued by the Registrar of Companies in the country of your principal place of business
  • if using an agent, a letter of authorisation for the agent to act on your behalf
  • a copy of the document issued by your regulatory authority that approves your company's maintenance program for the aircraft that you intend to operate to and from Australia
  • a copy of the Certificate of Approval, or equivalent, for the maintenance organisation provider in Australia.
