General Operator Certificate - Australian Government


You will require this certificate if you operate radio installations, radio navigational aids and communication equipment in a vessel.

It is also a requirement of many seafarers certificates that you must hold a current General Operators Certificate.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to receive this certificate you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old; and
  • Completed an approved course that meets the standard of competence in the STCW Code; or
  • Hold an equivalent certificate.
