You will need this permit if you intend to possess hanlon that is, or has been, for use in fire protection equipment.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit you must provide evidence that:

  • you are able to competently carry out the activities covered by the permit
  • your intended use of the halon is for a purpose that is necessary to protect human life or operate equipment that is critical to the community
  • you have relevant training or experience
  • you are a fit and able person
  • there is no alternative to the halon use that is practicable, available at a reasonable cost, safe, or likely to result in less damage to the environment.

You must also provide a Risk Management Plan.
