You will need this permit if you intend to handle or possess any compounds that contain a type of halomethane for use in fire protection equipment.
Halomethane (Halons) are fire extinguishing agents that are derived from methane using halogen atoms in place of hydrogen atoms.
You may be exempt from needing this licence if your halon based fire protection systems are exclusively used in aviation or maritime situations. However, if you intend to possess or hold any stocks of halon extinguishing agents for use as a top up for your fire protection system then you will still be required to apply for this permit.
