High Seas Fishing Permit - Australian Government

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to fish commercially for species on the high seas outside the Australian Fishing Zone, which generally extends 200 nautical miles from the coast.

This permit only allow fishing in areas that will fall in the area of competence of the Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement and the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation.

  • purpose of the operations (such as fishing, carrying or process)
  • proposed target species

Your boat must also be equipped with a vessel monitoring system.

Duration

Maximum of one year until the end of each calendar year.
