ISO 8383:1985 Lifts on Ships - Specific Requirements - Australian Government

Description

You must comply with this code if you are the operator of an Australian vessel or foreign vessel that is either:

  • in an Australian port
  • entering or leaving an Australian port
  • in the internal waters of Australia
  • in the territorial sea of Australia, other than in the course of innocent passage.

This standard only applies to lifts that are installed for the use of passengers and seafarers, not to cargo lifts. It lays down requirements for design, installation and inspection.
