Joint International Standard/International Electrotechnical Standard ISO/IEC 17011:2004 Conformity Assessment - General Requirements for Accreditation Bodies Accrediting Conformity Assessment Bodies - Australian Government

You may be required to comply with this standard if you intend to provide accreditation services to laboratories that will be involved in the evaluation of whether businesses meet the requirements to receive the Australian Government's Product Stewardship Benefits for their recycling of used oil.

For entities to be eligible for the Product Stewardship Benefits the recycled oil they produce must pass testing by an independent laboratory. In order to undertake this role laboratories must be accredited by an entity that:

  • Holds a mutual recognition agreement with the Australian National Association of Testing Authorities; and
  • Complies with this standard.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
