Launch Facility Licence - Australian Government

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to operate a facility whether fixed or mobile, which is designed or constructed as a facility which a space object may be launched from within Australian.

A space object is an object which is to go into or coming back from an area beyond the distance of 100 km above mean sea level.

A launch facility licence is approval that the minister may grant to a person to operate a launch facility in Australia; or undertake any activities directly connected with operating a launch facility.

Eligibility requirements

The following requirements must be met for you to be eligible for this licence:

  • The minister must find that sufficient funding in regards to the construction and operation of the launch facility is met.
  • The minister must find that there will be no interference with Australia's national security.
  • You must have obtained all necessary environment approvals and have an adequate environmental plan informed by Australian law.
  • The probability of harm to public health and safety is as low as reasonably practicable.
  • You are competent in operating a launch facility.

You must ensure that the design and construction of the launch facility is as effective and safe as reasonably practicable and has been approved by the Minister.

Up to 20 years subject to an annual review
