You will need this licence if you are licensed to self insure with the Comcare scheme and intend to operate a major hazard facility. A major hazard facility is a facility at which schedule 15 chemicals are present or likely to be present in a:
- quantity greater than their threshold quantity
- quantity greater than 10 percent of their threshold quantity and the agency considers there to be potential for a major incident to occur, such as an escape, spillage, leakage, explosion, implosion or fire.
Schedule 15 chemicals include:
- explosive materials
- compressed and liquefied gases
- flammable materials
- oxidising materials
- peroxides
- toxic solids and liquids.
Please note, you must notify the agency when your facility reaches or exceeds the notification quantity for any of the schedule 15 chemicals.
