National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Registration - Australian Government

Description

You will need to register if you operate a corporation or group of companies that meets one of the greenhouse gas emissions, energy production, or energy consumption thresholds for reporting. Corporations emitting large volumes of emissions are required to collect and collate greenhouse gas emissions and energy data, and to report that data on a regular basis. If your company satisfy at least one of the following thresholds then you may be required to report:

  • Emission of 50 kilotonnes or more of carbon dioxide equivalents;
  • 200 terajoules of total energy produced;
  • 200 terajoules of total energy consumed; or
  • Operational control of any single facility consuming 100 terajoules of energy or more.

Exemptions may apply in circumstances such as non-energy greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and land use. You may also be able to voluntarily register even if you do not meet the above thresholds. Please consult the Contact Officer for more information.
