Opt-in Declaration - Australian Government

Description

If you operate a vessel within Australia's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) you may apply to opt-in to the regulation of the Navigation Act 2012.

Operators of vessels that have been approved as sea-worthy and registered may receive an opt-in declaration.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an opt-in declaration, your vessel must not be a:

  • recreational vessel
  • Class 1E vessel
  • Class 2D or 2E vessel
  • Class 3B, 3C, 3D or 3E vessel
  • Class 4C, 4D or 4E vessel.

Vessels will be required to maintain class survey and to hold appropriate certification.
