Parachute Rigger / Packer Certificate - Australian Government

Description

You will require this certificate if you intend to manufacture, maintain and service parachutes and their associated equipment on behalf of a parachute club or business operation.

A rigger is required to comply with mandatory equipment standards for the manufacture or maintenance of both certified and non-certified parachute parts.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this certificate, you must:

  • be the required age (varies depending on the type of rating)
  • be a member of the Australian Parachute Federation (APF)
  • have the recommendation of a Chief Instructor or Rigger Examiner
  • be a fit and proper person to discharge the relevant duties and responsibilities associated with your certificate
  • have the ability to maintain clear and concise records
  • have passed the written and practical examinations set by the APF.

All APF packer ratings and rigger ratings are held subject to the holder being a current APF member and passing a revalidation examination every two years.
