You will be required to comply with this standard if you intend to manufacture, supply, sell or modify radiocommunication devices that transmit via the inshore boating radio services band or devices that are designed or intended to operate on a carrier frequency below 30 MHz that is substantially similar to an inshore boating service and outside Australia. The inshore boating radio services band is comprised of all the 27 megahertz maritime frequencies.
The purpose of this standard is to ensure radiocommunications equipment achieves a satisfactory level of performance prior to use. The technical requirements of this standard are drawn from AS 4367:2007 (Radiocommunications equipment used in the inshore boating radio services band).
Please note that if you are importing a radiocommunication device for the sole purpose of use at a significant event it may be exempt from this standard.
Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance that may be required.
