Description

You must comply with this standard if you intend to manufacture, supply, sell or modify a radiotelephone transmitter or receiver that operates on one or more maritime mobile service very high frequency (VHF) band.

The purpose of this standard is to ensure radiocommunications equipment achieves a satisfactory level of performance prior to use. The technical requirements of this standard are drawn from:

  • AS / NZS ETSI EN 203 885:2018 Portable VHF Radiotelephone Equipment for the Maritime Mobile Service Operating in the VHF Bands With Integrated Handheld Class HDSC
  • AS / NZS ETSI EN 301 178:2018 Portable VHF Radiotelephone Equipment for the Maritime Mobile Service Operating in the VHF Bands (for Non-GMDSS Applications Only)
  • AS / NZS ETSI EN 301 025:2018 VHF Radiotelephone Equipment for General Communications and Associated Equipment for Class 'D' Digital Selective Calling (DSC).

Please note that if you are importing a radiocommunications device for the sole purpose of use at a significant event, it may be exempt from this standard.
