Registered Migration Agents - Australian Government

Description

This registration is required by any person, whether acting as an individual, executive officer, employee or member of a corporation or partnership, who provides immigration assistance to persons wishing to enter or to remain in Australia.

It also applies to anyone who provides immigration assistance to persons who wish to nominate or sponsor such a person; or who charges a fee to make representations to the Agency on behalf of a visa applicant, sponsor or nominator.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration you must:

  • be 18 years of age or over
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • have passed the examination in the prescribed period
  • undergo a National Police Check
  • hold appropriate professional indemnity insurance
  • be a person of integrity and fit and proper
  • demonstrate English language competency
  • have published notice stating your intention to apply for registration and provide evidence of this publication to the Agency unless you have been registered at some point in the last 12 months.

If you are applying as an individual for repeat registration (having been registered at some point in the last 12 months) you must submit, with your application, a statement detailing the kinds of services you offered during the previous registration period and the average fees charged for each of those services.
