Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a business as a drone service provider for hire or reward. This may include employing remote pilots to operate remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) of different weight categories, or applying for additional permissions and approvals to conduct more complex drone operations outside of the drone safety rules

If you intend to operate an RPA personally, you will need a remote pilot licence.

Commencement

Upon certification, RPA Operators Certificates (ReOC) are valid for an initial twelve months, requiring the operator to renew after one year of operating. Upon renewal, ReOCs are then valid for three years.

An initial certificate is valid for one year. A renewed certificate is valid for three years.
