You will require this consent if you intend to undertake non-commercial research and scientific investigations related to petroleum and greenhouse gas storage exploration, including areas covered under an existing offshore title.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Only genuine research organisations may apply for this approval. Genuine organisations are those undertaking scientific research activities into the physical or biological characteristics of the continental shelf for petroleum exploration or greenhouse gas storage. These activitis include drilling stratigraphic holes, but exclude drilling petroleum exploration wells as research.

You publish a full report detailing data gathered and the activities carried out in the title area or accessed as part of the investigation.
