Special Purpose Consent - Australian Government

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to:

  • conduct scientific investigations
  • undertake reconnaissance surveys
  • collect small amounts of minerals.

A reconnaissance survey is a broad scale short term survey that companies may undertake to decide whether to apply for an exploration licence. Small scale collection activities can cover activities such as the collection of dead coral or a similar limited operation.

This licence can be granted for a standard block, a reserved block or tender block. It does not give the holder exclusive rights to an area, nor will it give the holder any preference when applying for other licences for the same area.
