Telecommunication Carrier Licence - Australian Government

Description

You will require this licence if you are the owner of a network unit that is used to supply telecommunications carriage services to the public, such as telephony or internet. If required, you can arrange for another party to take on the responsibilities of a carrier for a network unit by applying for a nominated carrier declaration.

If you are the operator of a facility, or you resell services from a facility then you will not be required to apply for a carrier licence.

Eligibility requirements

To eligible for this licence you must be a constitutional corporation, eligible partnership or public body.

You must provide an attachment that outlines the following information and copies of any supporting documents:

  • the organisational structure, including directors, major shareholders and links with overseas and / or other Australian companies
  • whether you have any foreign ownership, control or direction
  • your background and history as it relates to the licence
  • relationships between yourself and another person in connection with the production and supply of facilities
  • any current or proposed research into new technologies and development of those technologies
  • whether you (or any director, secretary or any other person involved in the management body) has been disqualified
  • your membership of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman scheme, or the date you will apply for membership.
