The Modernised Australian Ship Tracking and Reporting System - Australian Government

Description

You must register to report with the Modernised Australian Ship Tracking and Reporting System (MASTREP) if you are the master of a Regulated Australian Vessel, or if you are the master of a foreign vessel from the arrival at its first port in Australia until its departure from its final port in Australia.

MASTREP provides positional data on vessels transiting Australia's region through automatic identification system technology which ensures that only the closest vessels are requested to assist in a search and rescue incident.

There are some areas where MASTREP reporting is mandatory and some areas where it is voluntary.
