Trade Measurement Servicing Licence - Australian Government

Description

You will require this licence if you intend to verify measurement instruments used for trade, or employ verifiers in the running of your business.

Verifiers service, repair, test or confirm the integrity or correctness of measuring equipment used for trade purposes. The classes of servicing licences available relate to:

  • length measuring instruments
  • area measuring instruments
  • masses
  • measures of volume
  • liquid measuring instruments
  • weighing instruments
  • farm milk tanks
  • vehicle tanks
  • LPG dispensers
  • natural gas dispensers
  • multi-dimensional measuring instruments
  • utility meters
  • quality measuring instruments
  • evidential breath analysis
  • density hydrometers.

There are also supplementary servicing licences relating to control systems for weighbridges, liquid measuring systems, and point of sale systems.

Licence

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

A licence may be granted to individuals, partnerships or body corporates who are able to satisfy the legal requirements for a servicing licence.

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • undergo a criminal history check and submit a National Criminal History Report
  • provide details of all employees that will be operating as verifiers
  • have an approved quality management system
  • comply with any conditions issued with the licence.
