Approval of a Provisional Driver Training Course - Australian Capital Territory

You will be required to apply for this approval if you intend to provide a driver training course within the Australian Capital Territory. Authorised Driving instructors are required to seek approval for any driver training courses they intend to provide to provisionally licensed drivers for the purposes of:

  • Removing the requirement to display P-plates
  • Doubling the number of demerit points for a provisional licence holder from 4 to 8.

Provisionally licensed drivers within the ACT are required to display P-plates for three years, unless they successfully complete a road ready training course. If a road ready training course has been completed, they are approved to remove their P-plates after six months.
