You will require this authority if you intend to communicate to another person information related to associated technology.

This authority is normally required by patent attorneys intending to communicate with the patent office about associated technology.

Associated technology means any document that contains information about the design, production, operation, testing or use of equipment or plant for:

  • Enriching nuclear material;
  • Reprocessing irradiated nuclear material;
  • Producing heavy water;
  • Nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices; or
  • To which a prescribed international agreement applies.

It includes any photograph, model or other thing from which such information may be obtained or deduced.
