Code of Practice and Safety Guide for Radiation Protection in Veterinary Medicine (2009) - Australian Government

Description

You will be required to comply with this code if you:

  • Manage a veterinary practice
  • Are the operator who exposes an animal to radiation

        or

  • Are a veterinary surgeon who is responsible for justifying and prescribing a veterinary radiation procedure.

The code provides a system for the safe use of veterinary radiation equipment and radioactive sources. The Safety Guide within the code also covers the use of radiation in veterinary medicine and informs best practice in each application of ionizing radiation. Consequently, it provides useful radiation protection information to the veterinary community.

Please consult the Contact Officer for more information and to ascertain the level of compliance (if any) that may be required.
