Consent to Manufacture a Manufacture-Prohibited Chemical - Australian Government


You will require this consent if you operate a business that intends to manufacture a manufacture-prohibited agricultural or veterinary chemical within Australia.

A manufacture-prohibited chemical is any chemical product that contains an active constituent that is the subject of an international agreement. An active constituent is a substance that is primarily responsible for the biological or other effect identifying the product as an agricultural or veterinary chemical product.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for this consent you must provide the following information:

  • generic information about yourself
  • the technical name, common name and Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) number (if known) of the chemical
  • the quantity to be manufactured.

The Agency will also consider the intended use of the chemical and whether such use is prohibited under the relevant Convention.
