You will be required to comply with these guidelines if you hold a facility licence and you intend to deal with controlled apparatus. A controlled apparatus is one that produces harmful non-ionizing radiation when energised.

These guidelines are referred to as the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) and sets out requirements for limiting exposure to time-varying electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields (EMFs). The purpose of the guidelines is to provide protection against known adverse health effects of EMFs.
