Aerial Applicator Business Licence - New South Wales

You will require this licence if you intend to operate a business that employs pilots for aerial application of pesticides (spray pesticides from an aircraft). A pesticide is any substance or mixture of substances used to destroy or alter the life cycle of any pest. Pesticides are used in commercial, domestic and urban and rural environments and include bactericides, baits, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, lures, rodenticides and repellents.

You will need this licence whether you apply the pesticides yourself or if you employ others to do so. Any pilot that will fly the aircraft must hold an aerial applicator pilot licence.

Please be aware that pesticides can only be applied from aircraft that has been endorsed (by the relevant Authority) as suitable for agricultural operations. The Act prohibits the attachment of spray equipment to any aircraft not endorsed for agricultural operations.
