Aerial Applicator Pilot Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you are a pilot and intend to fly an aircraft used to apply, spread or spray pesticides in NSW. A pesticide is any substance or mixture of substances used to destroy or alter the life cycle of any pest. Pesticides are used in commercial, domestic and urban and rural environments and include bactericides, baits, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, lures, rodenticides and repellents.

Pesticides can only be applied from aircraft that has been endorsed (by the relevant Authority) as suitable for agricultural operations. The Act prohibits the attachment of spray equipment to any aircraft not endorsed for agricultural operations.

You must also hold (or be engaged or employed by the holder of) an aerial applicator business licence.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence, you must:

  • be 18 or older
  • be a fit and proper person
  • hold a class 1 or class 2 medical certificate
  • hold a current commercial pilot (aeroplane) licence or commercial pilot (helicopter) licence with an agricultural rating or an aerial application rating
  • hold a certificate of approval issued under the Spray Safe Accreditation Program or pass an exam conducted in accordance with the requirements of another state or territory for the purpose of obtaining an equivalent licence.
