You will need this approval to act as a sports controlling body, either as an individual or an organisation. A sports controlling body is responsible for the regulation of any betting conducted on sporting events within its control, including the:
- implementation of integrity agreements with licensed bookmakers intending to offer betting on those sporting events
- determination of whether those sporting events should be prescribed as declared betting events
- prohibition of the placement of certain types of bet on those sporting events.
Please note that there can be only one sports controlling body for any particular class of sporting event.
