Approval for Domestic Greywater Diversion - Berrigan Shire Council - New South Wales

Description

You will require this approval if you intend to divert domestic greywater.

Domestic greywater diversion means the installation and operation of a system for diverting greywater generated on residential premises to a garden or lawn on those premises.

Greywater is waste water from washing machines, the laundry, showers, hand basins, and baths, but does not include waste water from a kitchen, toilet, urinal or bidet.

Please note that you can install a domestic greywater diversion system without prior approval if:

  • It is carried out in accordance with the Plumbing Code of Australia;
  • A sewage management facility is not installed on the premises concerned; and
  • The relevant performance standards are met.

Plumbing and drainage work can only be carried out in NSW by individuals that hold the relevant professional licences.
