You will need this approval to divert domestic greywater through the installation and operation of a system that can divert greywater generated on residential premises to a garden or lawn on those premises.
Greywater is waste water from washing machines, the laundry, showers, hand basins, and baths, but does not include waste water from a kitchen, toilet, urinal or bidet.
Please note that you can install a domestic greywater diversion system without prior approval if:
- it is carried out in accordance with the Plumbing Code of Australia
- a sewage management facility is not installed on the premises concerned
- the relevant performance standards are met.
Plumbing and drainage work can only be carried out by individuals that hold the relevant professional licences.
