Approval to Conduct Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Training Courses - New South Wales

Description

You will need this approval if you operate a registered training organisation and intend to conduct training courses to award responsible service of alcohol (RSA) certificates.

You will need a separate approval if you intend to provide the RSA training online. You can only apply for this approval if you are an industry association, the TAFE commission or a provider nominated by an industry association.

RSA courses focus on:

  • harm minimisation
  • the importance of understanding the obligations under the law to serve alcohol responsibly
  • strategies to ensure that customers drink responsibly
  • preventing minors from accessing alcohol.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Each trainer delivering the course must:

  • provide an Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) number
  • hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent qualification
  • have at least 3 years experience as the holder of a managerial or supervisory position in a hotel or registered club.

For approval to deliver the course online for a provider nominated by an industry association, the application must be accompanied by written confirmation of that nomination. This must include an explanation of the relationship between the industry association and the provider.
