Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must provide proof of your acceptance of the Council's event guidelines.

This approval will often need to include details such as the type of entertainment, proof of public liability insurance, the approximate number of people attending, available parking, a traffic management plan, a waste management plan, the location, date and times of the event.

When you submit your application to Council, you must provide a copy of a relevant public liability insurance certificate of currency. The event holder must have public liability insurance with a minimum single claim value of $10 million. The insurance must note the interest of Byron Shire Council and of the Crown (where applicable).

Applications under section 68 of the authorising legislation can be lodged electronically via the NSW Planning Portal.

To apply for this approval electronically, you must:

• register for the NSW Planning Portal
• complete the online application form
• pay the prescribed fee.
  

Approval time

Please submit your approval to the council at least four months in advance of your event. Depending on the scale of the event, more than twelve months could be required to address all issues.
