Description

You may need this approval if you intend to install or operate amusement devices. This approval is required to ensure that minimum health and safety standards are met.

An amusement device is a powered device that can carry or support members of the public for the purpose of amusement, entertainment or sightseeing (for example, carnival rides).

Please be aware that certain small amusement devices may be exempt from this approval. Small amusement devices are designed primarily for the use of children aged 12 years or less, and include mini-ferris wheels, battery operated cars and miniature railways.

  • the ground or other surface on which the device is to be or has been erected is appropriate and safe

  • the device is to be or has been erected in accordance with all conditions (if any) relating to its erection set out in the current certificate of registration
  • there is a current log book
  • there is a current contract of insurance or indemnity for the device.
