You will require this approval if you intend to do any of the following to a tree or piece of vegetation on your property:
- Harm;
- Cut;
- Ring-bark;
- Top;
- Lop;
- Remove;
- Injure; or
- Destroy.
This approval is required to make sure there is not a pre-existing preservation order relating to the tree or vegetation in question. There are some exemptions that allow you to remove a tree that is otherwise protected by a preservation order. An exemption may be applicable in circumstances such as where a dead or dying tree has become dangerous.
