Approval to Undertake Works on or Near Roads - Shellharbour City Council - New South Wales

Description

You need this approval to undertake works on or near roads. The types of work requiring approval includes, but is not limited to:

  • opening a road (digging in or creating a trench through or under a kerb or footpath)
  • erecting, removing or interfering with a structure, work or tree on a public road (includes using small and/or large machinery on a public road)
  • pumping water into a public road from adjoining land
  • driving any vehicle across a kerb or footpath
  • creating a temporary vehicle crossing
  • connecting a road (whether public or private) to a public road.

  • standard driveway application (per driveway), including 2 onsite inspections - $553.00
  • annual approved contractor registration fee - $501.00
  • illegal road reserve works / illegal driveway administration fee - $833.00
  • additional onsite inspection (per inspection), including onsite consultations - $200.00.

Consent to undertake works within the road reserve other than a driveway:

  • low impact (short term) works that do not propose any new or adjusted public infrastructure or traffic management that does not cause significant impact to use of the road corridor, including 2 onsite inspections - $553.00
  • high impact works that propose new public infrastructure and / or traffic management plans that change traffic conditions for greater than 1 week, including 3 onsite inspections - $753.00
  • additional onsite inspection fee (per inspection) - $200.00
  • works zone on street parking space: per car space or 6 metres if no spaces marked (town centre / cbd) per week - $119.00
  • works zone on street parking space: per car space or 6 metres if no spaces marked (other than town centre) per week - $59.00.

Fees for 2023-24

You will also be required to pay a bond that is 5% of construction cost for works within road reserve or as negioated based on the impact (minimum charge $850.00).
