You may need this approval if you intend to undertake development in a Mine Subsidence District. Mine Subsidence Districts are areas that have been affected by underground coal mining that has or will take place.
Approval is needed to alter existing structures, erect new structures or to subdivide land within a Mine Subsidence District. Planning and other approvals may also be needed. You do not need this approval if the type of work you intend to undertake is minor and would not otherwise require approval from your local council.
If you have already started work without obtaining this approval, you can apply for a certificate of compliance. This certificate will confirm that your work meets all the appropriate requirements.
