You will require this approval if you intend to use a premises for the purpose of carrying out tests or inspections on excessively noisy motor vehicles.
When someone reports a noisy vehicle, the registered owner is issued with a vehicle inspection notice (VIN). A VIN requires the registered own to present the vehicle for inspection at an approved inspection station. The purpose of the approved inspection station is to determine if the vehicle's exhaust noise level, noise control equipment and pollution control equipment comply with legal requirements. Once the testing and inspection has been completed, the approved mechanic will issue a report that outlines the results and send to the Authority for final review.
Please be aware that all mechanics who carry out tests and inspections at your approved inspection station must hold an approved mechanic approval.
