Approved Mechanic - Vehicle Inspection Reports - New South Wales

Description

You will need this approval if you are a trained mechanic and you intend to undertake environmental tests or inspections on excessively noisy motor vehicles at approved inspection stations.

When someone reports a noisy vehicle, the registered owner is issued with a vehicle inspection notice (VIN). A VIN requires the registered own to present the vehicle for inspection at an approved inspection station. Approved mechanics are required to determine if the vehicle's exhaust noise level, noise control equipment and pollution control equipment comply with legal requirements. As an approved mechanic, you are required to complete an approved mechanics report that records the results of the test and inspection conducted on the vehicle.

Please be aware that all inspection stations must be approved.
