Authorisation to Use, Handle or Store Prohibited and Restricted Carcinogens - New South Wales


You will require this authorisation if you intend to use, handle or store a prohibited or restricted carcinogen. Restricted and prohibited carcinogens are listed in Schedule 10 of the Regulation. If you have provided notification of continuing work with a carcinogen in accordance with the requirements within the last five years, you will not require this authorisation until the five years expire.

Please note that prohibited carcinogens can only be used, handled or stored for genuine research or analysis.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this authorisation you must:

  • provide details of the name and quantity of the carcinogen, and the purpose for which you intend to use it
  • provide information about how you will manage risks to health and safety
  • provide any other information required by the agency, including details of your workplace and business.
