Bookmaker Company Licence (Thoroughbred Racing) - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to form a bookmaker company. Bookmakers operate at race meetings, in approved auditoriums or betting premises during pre-determined hours to offer bets on racing events.

Bookmaker companies may operate at more than one race meeting at the same time, or on more than one stand at a race meeting. This licence permits your company to take bets face to face, via recorded phone calls, and the internet.

Please be aware that you must comply with the specified rules and your licence may be subject to conditions.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence:

  • your company must be a registered company under Australian Government legislation
  • you must lodge a bookmaker company financial statement
  • you must submit the application form and pay the required fees
  • each director must be a fit and proper person for the purpose of the licence
  • each director, shareholder and person concerned in the management of the company must be at least 18 years of age
  • each director must hold an individual bookmaker licence.

Further restrictions apply to directors with interests in other businesses.
