Container Approval - New South Wales

Description

You may need this approval if you intend to supply beverages in containers (e.g. manufacturing or wholesaling canned or bottled beverages). Approval is to ensure that the beverage container is made from material that is suitable for recycling, and complies with barcode and refund labelling requirements.

Most NSW beverage containers between 150 millilitres and 3 litres are eligible for approval.

The following containers are excluded from the scheme and do not require approval:

  • plain milk or milk substitute containers
  • flavoured milk containers of 1 litre or more
  • pure fruit or vegetable juice containers of 1 litre or more
  • glass containers for wine and spirits.
